Dark Kid Lit, Realm Makers, and Whispersynced Audiobook

It looks like I've not even thought about this place for a few weeks now. But I assure you, that's not true. I've started--and deleted--several blog posts lately. I simply can't get hold of a topic solidly enough to post about it.

So, today I will at least get some links and such up:

I have another post up at A Flame in the Dark. It is my take on why kids should be allowed to read dark fiction. Check it out HERE.

I don't normally post links to reviews of my books, but this one just made me feel so awesome when I read it. Review of Seeking Unseen on Yellow30 Sci-fi Review--click HERE.

Realm Makers. If you haven't heard (did I post here about this yet?), I'll be on faculty at the Realm Makers Conference this coming May (30-31) at the campus of Villanova University, which is just outside Philadelphia, PA. I'll be teaching a session on Writing for the YA Market, and co-teaching one on Science in Fantasy Writing. For more info and registration, click HERE. (PS--we have Tosca Lee as Keynote Speaker, and I am stoked!)

The last thing I want to mention is that Finding Angel is now Whispersync enabled. That means, if you buy (or already own) the ebook copy, you can purchase the audiobook for $1.99. That is ebook and audiobook together for just shy of $6. The coolest part is that they will be synced, so if you want to listen for a while, then read, then go back to listening, etc., it will keep track of where you left off and keep going from there.

HERE is where you can purchase both. You have to buy the ebook, then the audiobook will show up at the lower price and you can then buy that. (If you find that they can go in the cart at the same time, let me know, but I'm pretty sure they have to be bought separately.)

PS--if you want a taste of the audiobook, you can listen to the first couple of chapters here:

Enter to Win an Audiobook Copy of Finding Angel!

WIN ME!
I don't remember if I posted about this or not on here, but the audiobook version of Finding Angel had a glitch that had to be fixed. It took a little while for the changes to get processed, but the new glitch-free file is now available through Audible.com, Amazon, and iTunes. (The awesome Tim Ward has given me the direct link to Finding Angel on iTunes as I couldn't get it since I don't have iTunes downloaded. Thank you!)

In celebration of that, I've acquired a promo code that will allow for the download of a single copy of the Finding Angel audiobook direct from Audible - which means...

**I'm running a contest!**

Enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below for a chance to win. Or several chances to win. None of the means of entry are mandatory--meaning you can pick and choose which you'd like, but remember, the more means of entry you choose, the more entries you get!

The contest will run from today through April 25th. That's two weeks to enter and spread the news for others to enter.

BTW--you can listen to a sample of the audiobook HERE.

Now get going!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

*In case you didn't click it, the Terms and Conditions up there basically say that the download is through Audible. And I'd really, very, very much appreciate a review from the winner. And pirating audiobooks is pretty despicable, so don't.

Finding Angel in AUDIOBOOK! (and a free mermaid)

Did I mention on here that I was having Finding Angel made into an audiobook? Well, I was. And I did.

You can now find it at Audible.com and Amazon.

The narrator's name is Jeanne O. Whitehouse, and I knew the second I heard her voice that she was Angel. She tackled the job with enthusiasm and was so easy to work with. If you are searching for someone to narrate a teen/YA book with a female protagonist, I highly recommend her. Just go to ACX.com and search her name. I know she's got a couple of projects on her schedule now, but she's worth the wait :).

Don't forget: Christmas is coming soon. Audiobooks make great gifts :). Well, so do print and ebooks, too!

And speaking of ebooks, my friend Caprice Hokstad has written an interactive children's book called The Adventures of Princess Marina the Mermaid, aimed at kids about ages 4 to 10.

It's short enough to read on one sitting, and it's like those "choose your adventure" books where you get to decide what the character does next in certain spot. Meant to be read on a Kindle, or a computer/tablet/phone with the free Kindle app. You choose by clicking links at the end of each section.

If you go to Amazon right now, you'll see it for $2.99. But starting tomorrow, it will be FREE. (Free sale runs Wed. Nov 21 thru Fri. Nov 23.) Bookmark it and get it this weekend! I have my copy already, and tested it out on my daughter, who loved it!
