Randomness by Default

What I always do when I don't have a topic....Randomness!

1. The free promotion on Finding Angel in Kindle format is over. There were more than 8,000 downloads! Here's hoping that a good chunk of those lead to sales of Seeking Unseen.

2. The new forever price of Finding Angel in Kindle format is $3.99! (Well, unless I do another freebie down the road...)

3. I have discovered that a watched pot never boils. Translated into writer speak, that saying means, an Amazon page checked every five minutes will never gain a review...

4. In three days I head off to the NECRONOMICON sci-fi/fantasy/horror/gaming convention! Take a moment to check out their site. Cllick here for this year's t-shirt design. Once you are there, click the little word "spoilers" in the lower left of the far left box. Trust me, it is worth it!!! And if you are at the Necro, please find me! I'll be selling books and speaking on six writing panels!

5. Next month I'll be going to the Sarasota Medieval Fair. Not as an author or anything, just with my homeschool group. But I'm excited! I keep visiting Etsy.com and searching for and drooling over the awesome Medieval dresses and wishing I had a spare $300 to chunk down on one.

6. Getting very excited as well about the new James Bond movie, Skyfall, coming out in November!

7. I was not always a James Bond fan. I found the earlier movies confusing until my husband finally explained to me that the opening scenes didn't have anything to do with the rest of movie--it was Bond's last mission. Once I learned to disregard the beginnings, I started liking Bond flicks. And the new ones don't do that anymore. Plus, let's face it. Daniel Craig. 'Nuff said.

8. Did you see who is playing the new Bond girl? For some reason I find this uber-exciting.

9. The audio book for Finding Angel is going to be out very soon. The narrator is finishing up tweaks, and will be uploading the final version, and then we will be LIVE!

10. Stopping here. Ten is a nice round number. So what should it be? How about the new trick I discovered to tell if a sentence is in passive voice...You add "by zombies" after the verb:

He catapulted the chair across the room. -- He catapulted by zombies the chair across the room. (Nope, not passive.)

He was catapulted across the room. -- He was catapulted by zombies across the room. (Ding, ding, ding!)

Feeling Random

Not sure why, but kind of in the mood for random statements this morning.

Some things about me:

My "Love Language" is words of affirmation. So, you have to temper the bad with good. Tell me what I've done right before you pick on what I've done wrong.

I love watching sci-fi, but not so much reading it.

I hate (most) literary fiction, but it is by no means a reflection on my IQ. Call me lowbrow, I don't care.

It finally occurred to me that when the fitness gurus say not to work out after 7:00 pm, they mean normal people, not me. I'm a night-owl, usually up till midnight or later, so 9:00 at night works just fine.

I'm beginning to understand the appeal of adopting dogs that are past the puppy stage.

No matter how hard I try, I will never enjoy cooking.

I am completely OCD about things being organized. But my tolerance for dust on said organized objects is rather high.

Coffee is essential for a happy Kat.

Alone time is even more essential. (Combine the coffee with alone time, and I have heaven.)

I've become completely intolerant of heat and humidity, which is not a good thing considering I live in Florida.

Also not good for a Floridian--I hate the beach.

Even though it is completely and totally hokey, I love the show "Wizards of Waverly Place."

I love the number 13. (Therefore I am stopping my list here.)

There you have it. Thirteen random things about me.

Today's Randomness

I haven't posted in almost a week, and to be honest it's because I haven't had much to say. You already know about the two new stories out, and the cover art at Digital Dragon if you've been following me. (If not, scroll back to the last two posts.) Other than that, it's been quiet this week.

What has been happening is:

--Last week was my birthday, and we spent the weekend at a Disney hotel (Port Orleans) to celebrate. LOTS of eating out, and we went to see Blue Man Group. That was surreal. Definitely worth seeing if you get the chance. The show's over by Universal Studios, and we went into a gift shop that's outside the park itself. They had Harry Potter Stuff. I couldn't help myself--I bought a t-shirt:

Yes, Ravenclaw is where I see myself :). Oh, and my son bought a pack of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, something he's been begging to do for a while. He loved it, even getting the nasty flavors. Boys :P.

--I've been participating in lots of discussions on my writers (Yahoo) loops about Christian fantasy and horror. Amazing the range of opinions on those topics! (I'll spare you the details.)

--I'm working on a short story to submit to Port Yonder Press for an anthology about Elves. It's yet another story that's related to my book, Finding Angel. What I've got so far was very well recieved by my critique group, so I hope PYP feels the same way!

--I've been submitting some of my previously published stories to places that take reprints, and also submitting artwork.

I wish I had more "news" to bring. Or some deep, insightful article about writing or, well, anything. But my brain's just not going there these days. It's focused on trying to get these stories out and finding places to sell them. And contemplating the different options for getting Finding Angel published. Maybe with the next post....

Anyway, I haven't been ignoring ya ;).
